WHO ARE YOU O DADAL?

Leaving your heavenly abode,
Forthwith to this alien land you have come:
In the garb of an ascetic you are
But tell me O Dadal, who are you?

Sometimes with the flute on your lips,
Your magic around our hearts you weave:
And every corner of the Mira Campus,
Rejoices in the festival of Divine Love!

Sometimes as Christ incarnate,
On everyone you bestow your boundless love
And from the Cross of your suffering,
To hundreds you grant your glance of grace!

Sometimes as the Lord Buddha himself,
To thousands you say as your message of mercy
"Extinguish the flames, kindle the light,
And thus, O mankind, tranquil be!"

Sometimes a grocer you become,
And with grace you give away wheat and rice:
Verily divinely intoxicated Nanak Shah you are,
Though you hide yourself from all!

Sometimes I see in you,
The smiling visage of St. Francis:
And in each and every one,
You raise yearning for the Infinite One!

Sometimes even as hundreds follow you,
As Nimai you chant the Lord's name:
And on every street and corner,
You search for Him, who verily you yourself are!

Sometimes you become the ecstatic Mira,
And on your guitar of love, you sing
"Where is my Girdhari gone?"
While tears stream from your eyes!

For the salvation of the people,
A faqir you have become here:
But O Anjali's Beloved Prince,
Who in reality are you?
